Founder & CEO
Yamal Yidios is the founder and visionary behind the growth and evolution of Ytech.
Under his leadership, Ytech has invested in, developed and redeveloped more than 7,000 apartments over the last decade, an effort involving more than $1.4 billion in capital. The company owns a real estate portfolio that makes it one of the largest privately held companies in Miami in terms of aggregate asset value. At present, Ytech has a development pipeline of approximately $800 million in luxury condominiums and mixed-use projects across the southeastern United States.
Yamal learned about real estate investment and development from his family in Cartagena, Colombia, where he was born. A third-generation civil engineer and real estate developer, his ambition to build his own company can be traced back to his childhood.
He came to the United States on a full academic scholarship and to play NCAA tennis at Stetson University, where he earned a minor in applied physics and financial mathematics. He then transferred to the University of Florida, where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in engineering with a focus on real estate development and construction management. The university presented Yamal with the Engineering Scholar of the Year award in 2004, distinguishing him from several thousand graduating engineering students, making him the first Hispanic student to receive the award in the school’s history.
Yamal gained experience at national real estate development firms and global engineering companies before launching his own firm. Later, he continued his education at Harvard Business School, completing the executive master’s program for owner/president management.
He serves on the board of trustees of several for-profit and nonprofit organizations, including the Coral Gables Museum and is involved with Miami’s Chapman Partnership for the Homeless. Yamal instituted the Ytech Cares Fund, which distributes $1 million annually to provide deserving underserved families residing at Ytech multi-family communities with rent-free housing. In addition, he focuses his philanthropic efforts on education.
